Baked Earth

A film that tries to encompass the sweeping history of mankind's relationship with clay. Made in time lapse and stop-motion it uses clay’s properties to act as the narrative thrust of the film. The crumbling of mud and the glistening of fired glaze are all story beats in their own right. The film acts as a demonstration of the holistic view of our anthropologically deep relationship toward the mineral. Action and stillness, changing and the immutable, soft and hard, thinking and dumb are all elements of a geological cyborgism made from human and clay.
