Small islands
I was commissioned by the band Firestations to make this film for their single Small islands. It was made almost entirely from clay timelapse. The piece explored the nature of borders and their relationship to the sea. The film depicts political allusions and symbols that are deconstructed by their border with the water. These objects are melted and then reconstituted into new land as plants break through. Footage that makes use of refraction and reflection was used to emphasise the subtlety of water to change our perspective. We other those in foreign countries almost as though the water between us distorts their humanity.
